Never did fencing but I was a goalie for 17 years. This made me think of the good ole shin guards cracking like a gunshot. My shins now feel like there’s BB’s floating around because of all the contusions 😂

Stupid racist qualification path that has the European champ and bronze medalist not going. Olympic qualification in fencing is one of the most failed attempts at forced inclusivity that I know of. Athletes spending their entire lives towards a goal and getting to the top or near top of their game but not qualifying because there have to be a certain amount of spots for Africans, Asians and Americans. The only clear results I can see with this system are frustrated heartbroken European athletes and a bunch of cases of corruption involving match fixing.
